Over the past few years, I have been lucky enough to gain experience and knowledge not only through my education, but also through my job, internship, and extracurriculars. I am currently interning with Anton Corp, a finance and production company, for the Spring 2022 semester. Even though my internship is not over yet, I have already gained so much information about the entertainment industry and I am excited to see how much I can continue to grow over the course of this semester. So far I’ve learned how to complete script coverage, some of the steps that go into getting a project ready for the big screen, and many names of people in the industry, such as producers, directors, and writers, that I had never known before. This internship has also pushed me in ways I never even imagined it would. On top of taking six classes this semester, I work for Anton Corp 25 hours a week, every week, on top of working crew for one of USC’s spring main stage shows, participating in a 24 hour theater festival as a director, and joining the USC Panhellenic Community. I’ve proven to myself that I can stay organized and on top of my workload no matter what challenges I’m faced with. Before I started my internship, I worked in the restaurant industry for two and a half years as a server which taught me several valuable skills including working under stress, conflict resolution, multitasking, and being able to interact with a wide variety of people. I have gained invaluable knowledge in the classroom both here at USC and during high school. At USC, some classes I’ve taken include Practicum in Television Production (CTPR 409) which have taught me about multiple different aspects of production, and Introduction to Theatrical Production (THTR 130) which has shown me the technical side of live performance including lighting, sound, stage management, set design, and more. During high school, I took a video production class and a film analysis class which together, sparked my interest and love for film and television and gave me the tools to be able to properly articulate my thoughts when discussing the cinematic arts. Coming from a public school system that did not care about the cinematic arts, I didn't have the opportunity to gain much experience in high school, however, he combination of my post secondary education, job, and internship experience has prepared me to be a successful, organized, and highly motivated intern/employee. My knowledge of the entertainment industry has increased exponentially over the last few years, but I am eager to continue to learn more!
