Biography
I'm a native Vietnamese currently settling in Philadelphia with my husband and a young toddler. In 2022 I left my Trust & Safety career of 8 years in the technology sector in order to pursue my childhood dream of going to art school and working in the arts.
The first chapter in my career sent me to Facebook (now Meta) and Upwork, where I worked on some of the darkest sides of humanity and society today (namely child sexual exploitation, cyberbullying, suicidal materials, and human trafficking). I also had a short stint as a VR Producer/ Project Manager at Facebook Horizon to launch their zero-to-one VR product (beta at the time).
Although these years sound short, they have enabled me to be at this unique position of having witnessed quite first hand both the beauty and the horror of innovative technologies. Alongside my work experience in the human safety space, my personal identity as a Vietnamese woman, a mom, and an immigrant has also shaped my ever-evolving creative direction to a certain degree today:
- I aspire to produce creative works that matter, that can connect with somebody in some way and ideally spark a real action, a real positive change, however small.
- I aspire to travel more, meet more brilliant minds and eyes, and collaborate with other disciplines for a greater cause.
- I aspire to use my creative and project management skills to help others tell their stories, especially those feeling like they have less of a voice.
The intersection between the old and the new, the expected and the unexpected, the traditional/ conservative and the rebellious tendency to break away from the norms are my go-to mode and mentality for execution. Above all, humanity is at the heart of my creative practice.
