Biography
Andrew Millstein’s career in the entertainment industry spans four decades. He is currently the President of Annapurna Pictures, which specializes in Live-Action films, Interactive Games, TV, Animation and Live Theatre. Since joining Annapurna in 2022, Millstein has overseen the development and production across various projects including SAUSAGE PARTY: FOODTOPIA, Yuval Noah Harari’s SAPIENS and the Academy Award nominated-film, NIMONA, which stars Riz Ahmed and Chloe Grace Moretz and released on Netflix in 2023.
He began as a cinema verité documentary cameraman and producer and pivoted to the world of visual effects and the emerging field of computer graphics.
After running a small Hollywood based motion-control company, Millstein landed as the Head of Production for James Cameron’s, Digital Domain, where he oversaw production on films such as THE FIFTH ELEMENT, DANTE’S PEAK, APOLLO 13, TITANIC AND Universal Theme Parks’ TERMINATOR 2 IN 3D.
From Digital Domain, he moved to Disney, where he first served as a live-action production executive and then as President of Dream Quest Images, overseeing visual effects production on such films as INSPECTOR GADGET and MIGHTY JOE YOUNG.
With the advent of full-blown 3D-CG animated feature films at Walt Disney Animation Studios, Millstein assumed production and executive leadership roles there, working in close partnership with Pixar’s Ed Catmull and John Lasserter until becoming President of Disney Animation. Throughout his tenure at Walt Disney Animation Studios, the company released blockbuster hits including TANGLED, FROZEN, BIG HERO 6, ZOOTOPIA, MOANA and WRECK-IT RALPH.
Prior to joining Annapurna Pictures, Millstein partnered with Robert Baird, as Co-President of Fox/Disney’s Blue Sky Studios, where they led over 500 employees and oversaw the development and production of Blue Sky’s feature animation slate.
