Ana Horta (she/her) is a Brazilian-born screenwriter, poet and novelist, who bid goodbye to the land of soccer, samba, and carnival at the ripe age of eighteen to pursue a university degree in Film up north. Her love of writing sprouted between the pages of countless notebooks as a child, yet it only replaced “vampire” as a career aspiration years later when she discovered the world of fanfiction. Even after an April Fools’ prank gone wrong and a two-day suspension from school, Ana’s peers trusted her to spearhead a collaborative writing project leading to the publication of her first book; she just hope it won’t be her last. Few can say they grew to love film through the influence of their Emmy award-winning uncle — well, Ana is lucky like that. She can’t write music to save their neck, but swears she was the mastermind behind Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in her past life. In this one, though, she takes joy in writing primarily coming-of-age dramedies, but thriller and magical realism are also right up her alley. Being in the LGBTQIA+ community, of course Ana would be obsessed with everything camp. Humor and absurdity are her preferred weapons in the battle against the status quo, which she is committed to fighting with their (he)art one script at a time. She spends her free time engaging in social activism, staring rather than making their way through their ever-growing TBR pile, and being the worst skater alive. Recently, she's been working on her art skills in hopes of becoming a Concept Artist someday, too. Ana’s short-term goal is to get an entry-level job in the film or video-game industry — anything to never work a customer service job ever again. In the long run, she hopes to garner just enough prestige to live and work in a trailer with a Golden Retriever, which she will probably (definitely) name after a character from Twilight.
