Purpose Based Storytelling
This presentation explores what it means to build a project that transcends animation. Dolphin Dude was created not just as an animated series, but as a larger advocacy initiative designed to inspire action around ocean conservation. In this project, animation is the vehicle — because even the most powerful ideas only matter if they can be communicated in a way that truly connects with people.
The workshop will dive into the origins of the project, how we unexpectedly entered the world of animation, and the process of bringing Dolphin Dude to life from the ground up. It will also explore the challenges of building an independent creative project in the age of AI, including questions around ethics, artists’ rights, and authenticity in storytelling. Drawing from my background as a lawyer rather than a traditional creator, I’ll also discuss some of the legal and strategic risks involved in developing creative IP, advocacy-driven media, and mission-based storytelling.
