Going Ronin

From Working for Big IPs to building my own stuff

Ronin Arts Workshop started in 2021 somewhat out of necessity and after a lot of avoiding the leap of faith. I was comfortable freelancing for board game, collectibles and miniature companies who held big IP licenses like Street Fighter, Darksiders, My Hero Academia, etc. Part of me always wanted to do my own thing and build a studio, miniatures line, and be the one licensing the big IP properties to do my own take on them. Five years later I've built a 400 plus miniatures catalog under my own banner, continued to work offering sculpting services to select board game projects. I'm working on my own DnD fantasy minis line that will become stand alone IP, and making my first licensing deals for IP I'm a fan of. I'd like to share some of the experiences in the past five years, good and bad, share some of our creative process, and hopefully help inspire other artists to take a chance on themselves to build their own thing.
