Project Description
What we want to achieve with this project is to let players enjoy the act of "digging deep into a piece of content. 3 minutes of music contains more than 3 minutes of experience. We believe that long-loved works are those that contain more experiences and discoveries within that limited time. However, in today's age of content overload, it is becoming increasingly difficult to concentrate on a single work of art. We propose "playable music" as a way to enjoy the pleasure of fully savoring a single work of music. We have chosen VR as a key tool to achieve this. We see VR as a device for reflection and concentration. We are exploring a new form of musical experience based on VR space. The current prototype consists of four elements (music, sounds that make up the music, VR space, and animation). This work is simple: you walk along a single path in the VR space until you reach the goal. As you walk straight down the path, a room appears next to the path. In that room, sounds that make up the music are placed, and the player listens to the sounds as he or she walks to the goal. In addition, certain actions will cause animations to appear, and the player can listen to a different form of sound than in the room. The music is composed of those sounds. By drawing attention to the individual sounds, we are attempting to create a change in the overall impression and sound of the piece.
Project Images

01.Top view of VR space
This is an image of the VR space seen from above. The left square is the starting position and the right circle is the goal. There are fragmented rooms and animations on both sides of the single path. Players explore these rooms and become aware of the sounds that make up the music.

02.Fragments of the room
This is a fragment of the room that appears on the side of one street. This space is a 3D model of a room in an apartment in Tokyo where one of the members actually lived. The sounds that make up the music were sampled in this room and created from memories associated with this room.

03.Animation image
These black-and-white animations appear on the side of a single street. These animations are based on memorable events and customs in the room. The sounds placed in the animations are made of the same material as the sounds placed in the room across the street, but are heard differently.

04.VR space image
This is an image of the space when played in VR. While most VR works are characterized by a lot of decorative and compositional elements, we have kept the compositional elements to a minimum in this work. This is intended to reinforce the awareness of sound.
