“A cartoon maniac criminal is faced by his past and embarks on a journey of self discovery.” “Like a Looney Clock” is a story of a man who finds himself lost between past and present. Scared of confronting his trauma, Bugs daydreams about a reality where he has the perfect life. The tale of the main character in a certain way is my own story. Bugs’s abandonment issues manifest themselves in his response. With absent parental figures, cartoons always had Bugs’s back. As such, the reality he daydreams about functions like an old cartoon in which he takes the role of a criminal road tripping across the USA’s desert with his imaginary wife. Even though the story’s structure is built upon tragedy, the surface we see is a comedy. Bugs is in control of the movie so he tries to convince us and himself that everything is ok by being ironic. Since the film will be told from Bugs's perspective, the visuals will match his psychology. The movie will stand out in 6 different ways: Line Art: As unstable as sketches Color: Crayon texture, like a child colored it Background: Collages (he doesn’t belong there) Color Grading: VHS Aspect Ratio: Changes according to his mood Breaks 4th wall Even though this is a feature idea, I intend to make a proof of concept of the movie by doing a short film of the opening scene. We would be introduced to the main characters and the theme of the story through a robbery. Comedy, action, folk music, a stylized dialogue and LOTS of guns should be expected.
