Process 2
I can't really tell what the colors look like anymore haha, so I'll submit it after a final check tomorrow morning.
Sketch of the smart city where robots and humans coexist (but the robots are just regular people working from home) There are also some smaller food delivery robots. I was looking at the hills in San Francisco and cable cars, thought it would be cool to highlight the silhouettes of humans and robots against the morning city smog.
Concept V3 explores the idea of a future where anyone can work any job from anywhere, through the use of robots and 5G connectivity.
The idea was inspired by my experience throughout the pandemic, with learning and working remotely. And as nice as it is to do my work in the comforts of home, I miss pre-pandemic life when I didn't think twice about traveling or just wandering around the city. And so I learned through some research, that 5G allows for machines to talk to each other on a larger scale than before (aka robots talking to robots). I thought hey, wouldn't it be cool if we could use robots as a stand-in for our bodies? Since robots can't catch covid, we could go about our daily lives through the robots--hang out with friends, commute to work.
Concept 2- a pilot who crash-landed in some apocolyptic city and finds a device buried in the sand. When the pilot turns on the device, a hologram of a lil plant sapling appears. After having seen only pictures of plants, this hologram was nearly life-like--enough to inspire the pilot to stay hopeful for a better future.
my goal is to show that technology, as much as it could lead to greater degredation of the earth, it could also be what helps save it.
Image is a set of some sketches, experimenting with value groupings, lighting and color. The scene in Wall-e with the plant immediately comes to mind, so I plan to stick with a desert-esque palette with the hologram as the only green.
Hey all! Here are some intial sketches--the bigger one is what I thought I would go with as the foundation for the final painting but as I'm typing this out, I feel like I might switch to the composition at the bottom right.
When I think about advancements in tech and sustainable practices, I'm hoping that it is followed by greater access to education for the general population. I remember loving those days when my lower/middle school teachers would have class outside. So, wouldn't it be cool if we could have free lectures on important topics like climate change etc.using holograms, open to leaners of all ages and of all social backgrounds.
