By the end I ended up making the setting darker, since I really wanted the umbrellas to stand out. Besides this the final touches include:

- Gaussian blur to add more depth and increase focus on the two characters.

- Fog, smoke and rain in the background. Since it's raining, the atmosphere changes more the farthest it is from our eyes.

- Made the umbrellas red and more vibrant. They were not as visible before, blending into the background.

In these final touches, I also retouched the characters to fit the altered setting, and played a little bit with the highlights on the protagonists:
