Part 4 - Final Image
Final Piece
I'm really happy with how this piece turned out and I feel I've been able to tell the story I wanted to tell and capture a moment of stillness.
I hope others find calm and inspiration from this piece.
Choosing between the final two directions was tough, but ultimately I went with A as it felt more immersive and better told my story.
With option A, a glowing orb light under the surface draws the portrait in and signifies that calm focused state of creativity and inspiration. It's almost as if the figure is entering an oasis of sorts for a moment of stillness and reflection.
Here's a quick look at my scene in Marmoset Toolbag. Taking inspiration from the penultimate scene from Blade Runner 2049, I used a limited number of lights to silhouette and frame the piece.
Thanks
I'd like to shout out the amazing people I spent a week with on a traditional clay sculpture workshop this year. Especially Victor and Jana the incredible artists and instructors.
It was on this adventure that I found stillness and calm this year that I knew wanted to bring back and channel into my artistic projects.
I'd also like to call out the brilliant
Hannahagain who is an amazing life model and source of inspiration.
Thank you to the organisers and other artists and huge thanks to the judges for taking the time to look over these submissions.
