More thumbnailing, perspective and sketch
Hi!
So quite a lot has happened since my last post
First, after asking some more friends for feedback I found out I wasn't quite done with thumbnailing - the image wasn't flowing right yet, and I wasn't fully satisfied with the colors. After a bit of pushing and pulling, I found one thumbnail with a composition I liked, and one where I (and my friends) felt the colors worked better. Then I combined the two for my final thumbnail
Then I got started on constructing the perspective for the image. It really looks more complex than it is - as I'm mainly using circles and curves, the perspective get simplified somewhat.
The most important part is implementing a bottom vanishing point, and making sure the degree of ellipses get bigger as they approach the bottom of the canvas.
The array of elliptical lines is to make sure I have proper structure to the girders on the far wall.
Though I got rid of some circular silhouettes to help the flow of the image, I'll also try to re-implement foreshortened circles within the silhouettes of the architecture later, since they are one of my main perspective cues.
Here, you can also see a new compositional idea which was really important for the flow - a bunch of curved lines leading to the focal point.
After this, I was on to updating my sketch to fit the perspective construction, which is where I'm at now
Though it looks a bit messy at this point, I trust that the structuring force of some solid linework and my planned out value composition will organize the image in the end.
On to lines! I'll see you when I have them done!
