Value Thumbnails
Today I spent enhancing the flow of the composition as well as figuring out the values for the illustration. Also, after getting some feedback, I adjusted the thumbnail for perspective. I still expect further perspective adjustments in the drawing stage, but this now feels a lot closer to the flow of shapes i expect in the final piece.
Here's the main compositional idea of the image - I want to keep the viewer's gaze inside the big ellipse, mainly looking around the perimeter of the smaller ellipse, where I've placed my focal points
And here's an earlier value composition - scrapped because it was less clear, but also because I like the story better in the new composition - There's something special about sitting in the shade and sketching with a friend.
Tomorow it's color thumbnailing and hopefully a lot of the drawing stage!
