Developing an Idea
Last post I talked a bit about the concepting of two ideas. After having a somewhat solid idea of what to draw I got down to designing each image.
Starting with the Self Sustained Community Concept.
Knowing how I wanted the house's silluette to loosely look like, I drew multiple variations of it. I wanted to try and better combine the lower house to the tent celling.
Some of these designs worked but didn't carry the vibe I wanted, some where to sci-fi, one took inspiration from a tree trunk (it didn't really turn out I though it would). My last design, however, took the original idea and just expanded on top of it clearing out some less defined traits. I really enjoyed certain design elements, such as the wide door, the water catcher hole on the left tent and the arching architecture.
Seeing how I didn't want the hassel of drawing perspective guides, I wanted to use 3D for everything hard surface, and then paint over it in Clip Studio. I planned out what elements would show up, and then proceeded to sketch them out before modelling them.
I designed fences, hydroponics and a few farm bots that would be scattered troughout the background.
I sent these to Blender and model out a simple scene, trying multiple angles and ideas, settling on this one:
And then doing a quick paint over before moving on to the other idea.
Next post will be about the initial process of the what was to become the final image.
