  • Environment concept art

This was specially fun, I was trying to add a new skill to my process. Putting some pieces and shapes together and making structures from these shapes. It is definatelly something I'm getting back to in the future, a lot more to enjoy there.

  • A Path

    But so I started!
Funnily enough, I decided to go with the first sketch that I did, it was not the first time that it happened, but the landscape had its charm so I decided to go with it.

My “Creative Process” can be a mess at the beginning, let's just say that I have too many ideas, and that I need to sketch a lot.
Sometimes it throws me off, others it's needed to make me appreciate my initial thought despite the flaws I see on it.

  • Fairies character concepts

I wanted to our main fairy to be quiet on it's own conner, but I'd love to have more, going about their buisness and flying around in the background. I really wanted to take a bit more time thinking about their design, I needed them to have an extra attention.

I'm very picky about color and light, I usually like to take some extra time planning it. I would be working on this piece for a few weeks until its done, I needed to be happy with the mood!

Simply was organizing the tone of the project. How bright and dark and how warm and cold things were supposed to be, simple composition.

  • First sketches

These are the first sketches for the relaxing concept I was trying to come up!

Magical delicacy usually reminds me of something very comfortable and beautiful, I mixed that with the slow sunset of a tiring beach day. Our fairy would be very comfortable, lying on a soft surface, in a warm ambient, reading a book and giving itself a snack.

In this final phase I tried adding particles in different ways, initially the idea was to help create a more magical environment, I brought the particles closer to the camera, placed them as if they were coming out of the cloud, but nothing felt right. This process was very important, it made me realise that i already loved what i had, adding more random stuff didnt help the final result.

  • Building the Composition

<div class="lexxy-content lightbox-container"> <p>After having everything that i needed, it was time to build the actual composition. This process was very time consuming because I spent a few days just moving things arround and doing micro ajustmensts. I did a lot of renders and then i would gather them up, put them on Photoshop and tried to understand what composition worked better, drawing on top of the images if it was needed.</p> <p> </p> <p>In the process of opening the renders on photoshop I had the ideia of adding birds, I was trying to undersand how could i add more power to the right side of the imagem (since the left one was a lot more "heavier"). I went back to Blender and modeled some low poly birds.</p> <p> </p> <div class="lightbox-container"> <div class="pswp-gallery lightbox " data-controller="lightbox" data-lightbox-target="container"><div class="lightbox__item"><a target="_blank" data-lightbox-target="item" href="/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsibWVzc2FnZSI6IkJBaHBBMXY4QVE9PSIsImV4cCI6bnVsbCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--a160a52a799fc058afddf19d063f302190369345/Wip8_01.jpg"><img alt="" loading="lazy" src="/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsibWVzc2FnZSI6IkJBaHBBMXY4QVE9PSIsImV4cCI6bnVsbCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--a160a52a799fc058afddf19d063f302190369345/Wip8_01.jpg"></a></div></div> <p>I changed the tree placement a lot, one of the reasons was to get the tree closer to the camera to help creating a silhouette. I also changed the position of the stones, trying to direct them more towards the cloud, placing one at the top serving as a landmark. I changed the position of the tree to the left, it was at the same angle as the tree near the camera, which made the use of the same asset noticeable.</p> </div> <p> </p> <div class="lightbox-container"> <div class="pswp-gallery lightbox " data-controller="lightbox" data-lightbox-target="container"><div class="lightbox__item"><a target="_blank" data-lightbox-target="item" href="/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsibWVzc2FnZSI6IkJBaHBBMXo4QVE9PSIsImV4cCI6bnVsbCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--1eb96a1d039fb6bc433dbf278100f4e8967eb47c/Wip8_02.jpg"><img alt="" loading="lazy" src="/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsibWVzc2FnZSI6IkJBaHBBMXo4QVE9PSIsImV4cCI6bnVsbCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--1eb96a1d039fb6bc433dbf278100f4e8967eb47c/Wip8_02.jpg"></a></div></div> <p>I went back and forth, adding trees because I was afraid the landscape and the final shot would seem too simple, then I removed the trees again because the composition was no longer making sense considering my idea of a personal osasis. I ended up sticking with just one tree because it didn't take as much attention away from the cloud.</p> </div> <p> </p> </div>

  • The rise of the characters!

After a big break due to some other works, i'm back at Golden ticket contest. Changed a little the composition from last time, felt that this way it would be more pleasant to read this image. In this stage I did a composition sketch digitally and then printed it to work in a more traditional way. With this printed I started to draw characters that will be present in the final image. I want to show a lot of people together just having fun and celebrating. The objective now is to add together the majority of characters and start adding color to this image. it's going to be hard, hope that I can still meet the deadline! Wish me luck!🍀

  • THE VITALITY OF WATER FOR TOMORROW

My grandma always uses the well known african tune to draw my attention to water with a usual statement "Water is Life". I got to know that she is correct because water acts as both a solvent and a delivery mechanism. It is an essential part of growth and a mechanism to see tomorrow.

Having water beside my creative work symbolises how most water bodies have lost their essense due to pollution which is very common in Africa with plastics on water.
