  • Finding the image

<div class="lexxy-content lightbox-container"> <p>This last part of the process was a lot of battling constantly the values, the last iterations helped me to find what I liked and what I didn't, when I had the greyscale I had my doubts on how to represent the different "demons" (War, tech/Ai, Global warming) But I thought I could work on that on the color stage. </p> <p> </p> <div class="lightbox-container"> <div class="pswp-gallery lightbox " data-controller="lightbox" data-lightbox-target="container"><div class="lightbox__item"><a target="_blank" data-lightbox-target="item" href="/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsibWVzc2FnZSI6IkJBaHBBd3IvQVE9PSIsImV4cCI6bnVsbCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--cba0d34ec587b251e22704cf8eef6dd7381c31a6/IMG_4733.jpeg"><img alt="" loading="lazy" src="/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsibWVzc2FnZSI6IkJBaHBBd3IvQVE9PSIsImV4cCI6bnVsbCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--cba0d34ec587b251e22704cf8eef6dd7381c31a6/IMG_4733.jpeg"></a></div></div> <p>I tried also different color variations. • 3D render

After choosing a camera shot and composition, I textured the scene, added fx such as fog and sunlight and I rendered the whole scene in different composition maps (the one showing being the beauty raw render) before combining them and overpainting them.

  • 3D blocking

In this part of the progress, after assembling all of the 3D assets, both modeled and downloaded, I tested different dispositions and camera shots, creating more 3D thumbnails.

  • Sketches/Thumbnails

I began with some fast sketches and thumbnails in 2D to explore the different composition and design options with the idea of a Japanese temple, shrine or traditional space without human presence.

  • Canvas Island Finalized

Here is my final image! Unfortunately I didn't have time to polish it as much as I would have prefered, however I'm quite happy with how it turned out!

My oasis is an island full of creative people of all walks of life who through collaboration create their ideal space, learn from each other, grow and live without the constant pressure by the industry. This place has tons of structures waiting to be painted. Also my pug would be there with me. No oasis is complete without lush nature, so I added as much as I could fit.

Thank you for organising the Golden Ticket contest as well as the THU event and good luck to everyone participating!

  • Setting up the scene

My first step was to use boxes to arrange the elements of the scene. Next step was to put cliffs instead of boxes. I used Mediterranean Coast pack from Epic Games Marketplace to create cliff surroundings. I placed the water in the center then I modified its parameters to match the vibe of the scene. Last step was to place the character on the rock and position the camera.

  • Creating the character

Character was made using Zbrush and posed using Mixamo. Idea was to make him sit in a relaxed pose to show the stillness of the mind. Hat was made in Blender.

  • Collecting references and ideas

My inspiration came from my trip to Thailand. The flow of positive energy that I felt while being surrounded by their beautiful nature made me realize I wanted to capture this feeling forever. The peace of mind.

I pictured this scene where monk (later I changed monk to regular man) sits on the rock in the middle of cave lake. Pinterest helped me find references to visualize my idea.
