Mentorship - Environment Design from 2D concept to 3D creation
Description
Environments are a crucial part of any game, and one of the primary ways in which we can communicate emotion, atmosphere and tone. This is particularly important at Wooga, where we aim to tell stories through our games.
How does the process from script to final implementation work? Whats important to look out for in a brief, and how does the ideation process work? What artistic principles are important to consider and in what ways can we use environment design to get atmosphere, mood and emotion across to our players?
And what technical limitations and workarounds can we employ to create efficient and beautiful environments?
In this mentorship session, two artists working at Wooga will give an insight into the pipeline of creating environments from initial thumbnails, passing through concepts and 3D models, and finally to implementation in the game engine. You will also have the chance to see examples from their work there will be time for Q&A and discussion.
