Description

Design, Color, and Light for Concept Art

Hello, my name is Tiago Calliari. I am an Artist and Art Director with over 15 years of experience in the animation and games industry, having collaborated with clients such as Netflix, Riot Games, PlayStation, Blizzard, and Garena.

Throughout my career, it has become clear that many of the challenges in Concept Art are not only related to technique or narrative but also to the balance between Design, Color, and Light, fundamental elements for communicating ideas with clarity and impact.

This mentorship is designed to approach these three pillars in an integrated way, focusing on building stronger, more intentional, and visually compelling images.

Aimed at Concept Artists and Background artists who want to elevate their work, the mentorship focuses on developing portfolio pieces with strong visual appeal and clear storytelling, grounded in the fundamentals of Design, Composition, Color and Light.

Who it’s for
Beginner and intermediate artists who want to strengthen their work and better prepare for the industry.

The sessions are held weekly and focus on developing portfolio pieces such as Concept art frames, Backgrounds, Color scripts, and Keyframes. The process begins by identifying each student’s main challenges, followed by creating a structured plan to support consistent development over time.

More than replicating styles, the mentorship emphasizes developing each artist’s unique visual language and encourages the creation of a strong, consistent artistic voice.

Throughout the mentorship, students receive direct feedback, continuous guidance, and practical direction applied to their workflow.
