Biography
Before transitioning into the digital format, as an award-winning digital painter for film, she
was a Muralist both for commercial murals and public art projects. One of Yvonne’s proudest
moments was when she was awarded the mural commission for the Blair Caldwell African
American Museum and Library (AAMLO) in the city of Denver. Her fine artwork pieces
have been collected by several private collectors and two of her sold pieces are in a group
collection ‘The Chemistry of Color’ which is housed at the Philadelphia Fine Art Gallery.
Twenty years ago, Yvonne transitioned into Digital Matte Painting working for world
renowned Academy award winning directors on several high-profile movies. In 2009 she,
with her coworkers, were awarded the Visual Effects Society award for ‘Outstanding Matte
painting in feature film’ for their work on Avatar. Her credit list of movies is vast working on
block busters as well as award winning shows, Game of Thrones, Avatar, San Andreas,
Planet of the Apes, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Hobbit are just to name a few.
In 2018 Yvonne went full circle round the globe and returned to Nairobi, Kenya founding
Ikweta Arts, a Visual Effect studio. Yvonne has continued to work remotely from Nairobi on
big block busters and has expanded her client base working with global studios: DNEG,
Fuse FX, Slate VFX, Ubi soft to name a few. Yvonne and her team have a passion to bring
high level visual effects to this region and in this light are creating avenues for learning and
bringing work experience to digital artists on the continent. We are partnering with like-
minded individuals with a passion to bring these technologies and skills to East Africa.
