About Supercell Shanghai office

Supercell is a mobile games company from Helsinki, Finland with offices in San Francisco, Seoul and Shanghai. Since our launch in 2010, we've brought five games to the global market – Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale and Brawl Stars. These are played by tens of millions of players every day all over the world. 

Our dream is to create games for as many people as possible that are played for years and remembered forever. Welcome for a journey!

How We Work

Supercell is made up of small, independent teams. Each team has the freedom to pursue our dream as they see fit. It’s up to them to decide what is best for Supercell, and for our players. We trust each other, even when we disagree.

To make five games, we’ve killed over a dozen, simply because the team didn’t feel they were good enough for our players. In the end, only our game teams can make the decision to launch or shut down their project.

Quality – We do a few things, extremely well. There is no quality bar, there is only better.

Learning – For us, quality comes from learning, and learning comes from failing. In order to learn faster, we fail faster.
 

How We Hire

We believe in fostering a culture of independence and trust. One way that we do this at Supercell is by staying small as it minimizes the amount of bureaucracy and processes while maximizing room for innovation. Our teams are nimble, experimenting with new features and failing smarter to maximize learning. We are constantly looking for proactive doers who strive in this environment to create the best games. 

 

About Shanghai

After the launch of Boom Beach in the Chinese market the time was right for us to open an office in China. Initially located in Beijing, the team found a new home in the Jing’an district of Shanghai in order to be closer to our partners. The team has grown to become our second largest after Helsinki. In 2018, we took a big step as a company as Shanghai became the site for our first game studio outside Helsinki. The goal for our developers in Shanghai and in Helsinki is exactly the same: to create globally appealing games that are played for years and remembered forever. This is our opportunity to bring together the best of two different worlds.
