David Masanso
David Masanso is a leading Ugandan animator and entrepreneur spearheading the growth of the Ugandan animation industry. As founder of Crossroads Digital Multimedia, a prominent animation studio, and co-founder of Women in Animation Uganda and Crossroads AnimateLab, he boasts over 18 years of experience in animation and digital media, nurturing emerging talent.
Masanso's acclaimed work includes award-winning films like Imitate, The Vow, The Run Away Rolex, and the Mzee Ddiba comic strip. He established the pioneering animation training program at Makerere University, where he currently heads the programme.
In 2019, Masanso became the first recipient of the Afrique Acceleration Seed Fund from the AFD, which enabled him to co-produce Mukago, ongoing in production a local children's animation series. He has garnered numerous accolades at the Uganda Film Festival and internationally, including a feature in CNN's African Voice Changers documentary for his impact on the African animation industry.
A highly sought-after expert, Masanso has served as Chief Animation Jury at the Kalasha Film & Market Festival in Kenya and presented at prestigious events like DISCOP in South Africa and the Durban FilmMart South Africa.
